Our core engineering team was first established at the National Magnet Lab at M.I.T. For nearly 25 years this team of engineers and managers worked together—first as EML Research, then as Kaman Electromagnetics, and finally as DRS Electric Power Technologies.
ePower is privately held and managed by:
William A. Henrickson, P.E.
General Manager
Will Henrickson served as Director of Marine Systems at Kaman Electromagnetics from 1993 to 1996 and as its General Manager from January, 1997, through its sale to DRS Technologies in 2003. Following the acquisition, he left DRS to provide strategic business consulting to a number of major defense-industry clients. Mr. Henrickson managed technology-development programs at both the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory and at Foster-Miller. He served in the active duty Coast Guard and in the Navy reserve, retiring in 1997 after 27 years of combined service. Mr. Henrickson earned his Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and his MSE in Mechanical Engineering and an MSE in Naval Architecture from the University of Michigan. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Peter P. Mongeau, Ph.D.
Director of Technology
Peter Mongeau is ePower's principal technologist. Dr. Mongeau co-founded EMLR research in 1981 and served as its Vice President and Director of Technology. He later held the same positions at Kaman Electromagnetics and DRS Electric Power Technologies. Dr. Mongeau is an internationally recognized expert in electromagnetic machinery. He has more than 25 years experience leading the design, development, and test of motors, generators, inverters, and controls for mission-critical applications—from electric launchers and pulsed-energy systems to sealed industrial pumps. Dr. Mongeau earned his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from M.I.T. He has published over 30 technical papers and is named in 11 U.S. Patents in the fields of machine design, power electronics, and advanced controls.
Mark S. Piercey
Director of Engineering and Programs
Mark Piercey directs ePower's product engineering team and oversees its development programs. Mr. Piercey served Kaman Electromagnetics and its successor, DRS Electric Power Technologies, for 18 years. During that time he held the positions of Manager of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Advisory Engineer. Mr. Piercey has led engineering teams on more than a dozen major machine development programs to design, build, and test permanent magnet motors and generators ranging in size from less than 3 kilowatts to more than 20 megawatts. He specializes in machines that are designed for low-cost manufacturing. Mr. Piercey earned his B.S degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University and is co-inventor of several patented technologies for integral motor pumps.
